Cordelia Tam - Grasping My Tradition

Cordelia Tam’s Grasping My Tradition is a 2019 collection of Inkjet print paper sculptures constructed by hand. Her work references the Chinese tradition of Scholar’s Rocks - something which Tam herself states she possess a “superficial” knowledge of thus making these works a “self-mockery.”

I encountered Grasping My Tradition through the recommendation of a colleague in response to my work Body Mould. Tam’s natural forms, made in an act of daily ritual, reminisce upon the “flow of natural forces.”

Tam’s work can be find on her website here.
