Antony Gormley - Sense
Antony Gormley’s, Sense, is one of a collection of pieces from his Concrete series of 1990-93. In these works he looks to “materialise the space of architecture and our place within it.” Sense captures the smallest space a crouching figure might occupy and in doing so flips the human bodies relationship to space through void. This is done so with the lost wax process.
Gormley’s work first drew me to inquiries of the body and its relationship to space. Leading me towards encounters with the exterioirity of space I also begun enveloping the body with the use of the lost-wax procedure. Specifically I drew inspiration from the themes of void, space, and procedure in Sense for my Body Mould works.
Gormley’s work can be found on his website here.
